Apprenticeship Program

Plumbing/Pipefitting/HVAC

Local 4 offers apprenticeships in plumbing, pipefitting, and HVAC tech. Apprenticeships take five years to complete through classroom and shop training at night, and on the job training during the day. In addition to plumbing, pipefitting, and HVAC instruction, all apprentices receive training in welding. 

Welding

In addition to plumbing, pipefitting, and HVAC instruction, all apprentices are required to attend training in welding one night a week.

Process for Applying

Applications for the 2026 apprenticeship opening will be available at the hall, 150 Hartwell Street, West Boylston, April 1st - 10th (excluding the weekend) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Applications are only accepted in person. You do not need to bring anything with you to apply. You must have a valid email address to apply. You can email Info@UALocal4.com with questions or call (508) 835-1150, ext. 1.


The assessment test dates have not been determined as of yet. Make sure all your contact information is up-to-date with the hall so you don't miss out when the information is released. 


IMPORTANT UPDATE: Hot Works Certification

Beginning January 1, 2025, enforcement will begin on the three-year renewal requirement of the Hot Work certification. This means when reporting to a jobsite, the date of issue of your hot work certification must be within the past three years or it is considered expired.  Any cert issued before January 1, 2022, will need to be renewed.  Link below will bring you to the NFPA website where you can register to take the class.
